The Huntress and The Stag
I was the huntress of the night
with heart untouched
filled with desire for the wild hunt,
then on a moon-bright night
from the mist the great King Stag arose,
my breath stopped and my heart fled.
We were alone in the ancient wood,
I was goddess touched and you godly divine,
never has my arrow been truer though I trembled
too much to fire, for your heart was lost to me,
as much as mind plied for your mercy.
Thus we held each other deadlocked
for you had power neither to flee nor fight,
the goddess wove her spell around us,
a bond we were rendered powerless to break
even should we wish to try.
So our fates are joined
our lives entwined,
